While we are in the peak of the 5G era in 2026, the 6G prototypes being tested today in China and the US are moving beyond simple data transfer. They are introducing Sub-Millimeter Sensing.

1. Wireless X-Ray Vision

6G operates at Terahertz (THz) frequencies. At this level, the radio waves are so fine that they can act as a “radar,” detecting the shape, position, and even the breathing rate of people in a room without using cameras. In an industrial setting, this means a factory can detect a worker in danger even if they are behind a shipping container.

2. Zero-Latency Holograms

6G targets a latency of less than 1 microsecond. This makes “Holographic Communication” possible. In 2026, we are seeing the first corporate boardrooms that use 3D light-field displays to beam executives into meetings as full-scale, life-like holograms.

3. AI-Native Infrastructure

Unlike 5G, which was “AI-enhanced,” 6G is “AI-native.” The network itself is a giant neural network that predicts where congestion will happen and re-routes signals before a single packet is lost.
