Because they are inherently compliant, soft robots don’t require safety cages. If a soft robot arm bumps into a human, it simply deforms and absorbs the impact, making them the ideal choice for 2026 home-care and high-density retail environments.

3. Exploring the Impossible

Soft robots are being used in 2026 for search-and-rescue and pipe inspections. Their ability to “squeeze” through tiny gaps and adapt their shape to the environment allows them to go where no rigid robot could ever fit.
